Scar Hunters are high ranking Scar Enemies capable of flight.

Etymology and Anatomy

Hunters get their names from Hunter (One who hunts creatures).

Scar Hunters are green colored bipedal scars that carry a large bag like thorax that is bigger than their upper javelin-body. Scar Scrappers are flightless javelins piloted by a Hunter-mass scar. Their helmets have only two glowing eyes, unlike other scars. The fuel-tank-like apparatus on the back of the large thorax likely fuel to power their jets while hovering.

Their torso has a similar design to that of a Ranger MK2 javelin and has the two belts of ammo bandoliered to it, while the left thigh has one belt.

Scar Hunters are large javelins that are equipped with jetpacks for short duration flight. The thorax-bag has six glowing spikes protruding from it on its sides. On the front, it has heat venters that indicate the flight status of this scar javelin. They carry a specially designed autocannon that can do lethal damage.

During the Season of Skulls, Scar Hunters are seen wearing skull shaped masks with burning flames.

Narrative Involvement

Scar Hunters can be seen during many scar related missions. They do not show up until the middle of or towards the end of the battle. They are usually the scar leaders leading the swarm and are marked with a target icon.

Among scars, they are high-ranking foes. During many missions and events, they have appeared as a named scar enemy.

Encounter Locations

The following places are all the locations where Scar Hunter can be found, either physically or in the lore. They may not be always found there, but have a high chance of being found in these locations.

Behavior and Abilities

car Hunters are large and can fly/hover during combat using their vented jetpack. They target their foes' head-on due to their large health pool and damage capabilities. They have the following ability:

• Gatling Autocannon: Scar Hunters use a special modified autocannon that has a sustained and large gunfire spread. But each shot can do high damage.

Hidden Attributes

Scar Hunters have the following abilities:

• Jetpack: Hunters equip a jetpack that allows them to hover. It also restricts when they can fire their weapon. Targeting the jetpack can cause it to explode.
• Taunt: Hunters raise their autocannon and make a garbled noise to provoke their foes into attacking them.

Strategy

Scar Hunters can do one of highest amount of continuous and sustained damage in the whole game.

• Special Weakness to Shields: Shield Breaker, Lightning
• Special Resistance to Shields: Armor Buster, Fire, Acid

Overview

car Hunters pose an imminent threat during combat. Their unpredictable spread in high powered munitions make them very lethal to their foes. To make matters worse, they can hover for set period giving them an aerial advantage.

If there is a constant fire from the Hunters, it is best to take cover behind a ledge or a wall.

They use their Gatling Autocannon and fire at foes while tracking them. They can also taunt their foes into coming closer to them. At a closer range, the damage dealt is significantly large and aggressive.

Doing damage to or defeating the Scar Hunters can make them drop ammo and repair packs. If health or ammo is low, collect these resupplies.

Combat

In the middle of the combat, if a Scar Hunter appears, first strip its kinetic shields down using anti shield damage. This can take a while as they are one of the highest shielded enemies. They also have one of the largest health pools.

Scar Hunters can only fire when they are hovering. But they have a limited hovering time determined by when the indicator on their vented thrusters become red. Once on the ground, they have to wait for their thruster to cool in order to get back to hovering and shooting. This is a cue to deplete their shields.

Once the shields are depleted, burn them to stop their flight or freeze them to fix them in an unmovable position. Because of their large health pool, debuffing them may be necessary. Targeting the weak points is not easy as the Scar Hunters are quite mobile. But it is still possible to do damage to their head or the fuel tank on their jetpack. Targeting the fuel tank will ignite it, and when the Hunter's health becomes 33% of its total health or lower, it will explode, just like a Scar Enforcer.

Every Named Scar Hunter

There are a few named Scar Hunters. There are several Legendary types in the game that serve as a target enemy or a mini-boss:

• Rot Weaver in the Season of Skulls version of Ring of Magnus
• Dusk Blight in the Season of Skulls version of Britaheim
• Baleful Host in the Season of Skulls version of Crucible of Astrid

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)

• Scar Hunters are supposed to be the dragonflies while the other scars are compared to cockroaches in The Art of Anthem.
• Scars are tiny insects that can fly, but inside their javelin, they are unable to for unknown reasons. Only Hunters have the capability of flight and they have to use a jetpack to achieve that.
• Each Scar Hunter is not an individual, but a swarm of scars (insects) that make its parts. They still look like insects.
• Scars are known to copy what humans do. Hence they wear skulls during the Season of Skulls just like humans wearing masks.
• The number of pips in the health/armor bar do not represent the total value. This means, two types can have same number of pips, but the stronger type (legendary or elite) will have a significantly higher health than their weaker counterparts.
• The ability names are taken from the Anthem Prima Guide and datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
