The Dominion Ice Stalker is a modified skorpion which shoots ice projectiles instead of acid attacks. It has seals on its back.
Etymology and Anatomy
Ice Stalkers gain their names from Ice (an element of nature) and Stalker (something/someone that creeps up on someone). Ice Stalkers like to creep up on their foes.
The Ice Stalker is a hexapedal, two-tailed, weaponized skorpion called Digester. Usually, skorpions are brown and have organic acid in them. An Ice Stalker is modified by the Dominion by inserting 6 seals on its back to make it cold and gray. These seals also make them shoot ice rather than acid from their tails.
Ice Stalkers have ice-blue parts that emanate cold air. Their seals are also the same color. But when the seals are damaged, they turn off.
Narrative Involvement
Ice Stalkers Shoot Ice Beam Projectiles
commonly found in battlefields during skirmishes with the Dominion only during the Season of Skulls. They are the vanguard for the remaining Dominion infantry.
Ice Stalkers are notably found inside the Shadowmark Anomaly and begin appearing during the second wave of the first tier of the conjunction.
They are fully capable of locating where a javelin is and are among the first to start attacking during combat.
Encountered Expeditions
At least one Ice Stalker can show up in the below list.
Encounter Locations
The following places are all the locations where Ice Stalker can be found, either physically or in the lore. They may not be always found there, but have a high chance of being found in these locations.
Behavior and Abilities
Ice Stalkers have the following abilities:
- Tail Strike: Ice Stalkers strike their foes using their twin tail.
- Ice Beam Projectiles: Ice Stalkers rapidly shoot ice shards at their foes. This looks like a beam of ice and can freeze all the foes that come in contact with it.
Hidden Attributes
Ice Stalkers have one hidden attribute:
- Stalker: Ice Stalkers creep up on their foes from the back and sides.
Strategy
Ice Stalker is Damaged
Ice Stalkers have regular health. They are resistant to ice attacks (1.25 times resistant to ice damage). Because of their stalking and freezing abilities, they are quite annoying in the battlefield.
When an Ice Stalker approaches the javelin, it is backs up a little and whips its tail to do a fair bit of damage. It can also shoot ice particles from its tail ends to freeze a javelin. Then continue to whip its twin tails.
Targeting the seals and the head of the Ice Stalker will do more damage to it, since that’s where the weak point is located. Although, the head may be difficult to identify.
Doing damage to or defeating the Ice Stalkers can make them drop ammo and repair packs. If health or ammo is low, collect these resupplies.
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Ice Stalkers are relatively less aggressive than a Digester.
- Unlike other Dominion enemies, there is no faction name prefix for an Ice Stalker. i.e., it is not called Dominion Ice Stalker while looking at its name in-game. The reason for this is unknown.
- The number of pips in the health/armor bar do not represent the total value. This means, two types can have same number of pips, but the stronger type (legendary or elite) will have a significantly higher health than their weaker counterparts.
- The ability names are taken from the datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
