The Core is a hidden place, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.

History

The Core is a Shaper Ruin and has existed for a while along with similar structures in the neighboring Monument Watch.

There isn’t much here, and it hasn’t been particularly used by the Freelancer for any purpose other than occasionally opening it to find out what is Locked Away inside it.

Geography and Layout

The Hole is a lesser Shaper Ruin and only has three chambers inside it. It is located at the edge of the north parts of Northern Bastion, so easy to miss. Several types of plants grow by its entrance. Upon entering, the first chamber is a long corridor with a pipe in its center. This pipe is broken at the entrance to the next chamber. There is murky water at the bottom, and the structures seem to be mostly rusted. This leads to a corridor perpendicular to the entrance and also has a pipeline in its center. This pipe has fan-shaped attachments to them. Water is seen dripping from the pipe. Some parts of the structure have lichen growing them, but most of it is rusted.

The final chamber is quite large. It has an open area with a massive circular structure on one side which illuminate the chamber with the light from outside and has vines growing on it. There are open Shaper structures on either side of its central platform. Above the central platform are large concentric ring like structures. Lichen has taken over most of the structures with a few shallow pools of murky water. Scar turrets and Lesser Ash Titan are found here. There is not special exit mechanism here, the way entered is the only way out.

Creatures

The creatures marked with and are found only through World Encounters and World Events respectively. Those unmarked may also be found in such events, but are usually found on their own. The following types of fauna, Chimera, and Elementals are revealed to be found in The Core. There may also be small Insects which are tough to identify. Weaponized and Shaper Corrupt creatures are not listed here

Enemy Encounters

As with all locations of Coda, The Core may have hostile forces. Hostile plantlife and animals, if found here, aren't considered as enemy encounters. The enemies marked with and are found only through World Encounters and World Events respectively. Those unmarked may also be found in such events, but are usually found on their own.

• The Core is the only Hidden Place that is never used during any mission, making it uniquely accessible only during Freeplay.
• The Core is one of two locations where the world event called Locked Away can take place.
• The Core, like other hidden places, uses a unique instanced map which is not a part of Northern Bastion map.
• The Cortex Entries for the Core cannot be obtained in the Library. Each time a loading screen is encountered when entering the Core, one entry is available to read, at random.
