Sundermark is a settlement, located in the nation of Stralheim, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.
History
After the death of General Tarsis, the Legion divided itself into two sets—one followed Arden Vassa, and the other, Magna Stral. Those following Magna were the Paladins. The Paladins chased the Urgoth out of Bastion permanently and into their Urgoth Nation in the Northern Continent after the death of General Tarsis.
While the Urgoth were sent back into the darkness, the Paladins were lost in the North. The North had become a frigid wasteland—presumably through a cataclysm. At this time, the Paladins were dying from the cold and hunger. Some time during this devastating existence, the Paladins found a trio of Anzu witches called the Sistrum.
The Paladins made a deal with the Sistrum and founded Sundermark, while giving the Anzu a seat of power in their newly founded nation of Stralheim. Soon, Sundermark flourished. But unfortunately, the Sistrum corrupted the Paladins and turned them into the Dominion. While Sundermark remained the capital of Stralheim and its seat of power, the Dominion became a totalitarian state ruled by the Marshals.
In the mid 400’s LV, Stralheim was under the attack from the Urgoth, which made them expand their regime into the Southern continent of Mirrus to look for solutions to thwart this problem. Sundermark would send Monitors and their own Arcanists and Valkyies to find anything that would turn the war against the Urgoth in their favor.
Geography and Layout
Unfortunately, Sundermark is in the North, and in a frigid environment. There are legends that state that the city and its surroundings were not always frozen. But a cataclysm froze Stralheim and it caused the Paladins to seek help from the Sistrum.
Stralheim, and in-turn, Sundermark, is said to have a brutalist architecture. Blocky pillars cover the entire city to keep it warm. The type of flora and fauna are unknown here. But a type of Wyverns that breathe ice are known to live here.
Flora
There are no revealed varieties of macroscopic Flora found in Sundermark.
Creatures
The creatures marked with
and
are found only through World Encounters and World Events respectively. Those unmarked may also be found in such events, but are usually found on their own. The following types of fauna, Chimera, and Elementals are revealed to be found in Sundermark. There may also be small Insects which are tough to identify. Weaponized and Shaper Corrupt creatures are not listed here
- Wyvern Chimera (Ice type)
Enemy Encounters
There may not be any specific enemies that belong to any known factions here. Hostile flora and fauna, if found here, aren't considered as enemy encounters.
Cortex
Cortex entry below is either unlocked in Sundermark or collected during exploration in other locations.

Thank you for your help resolving the Leyton matter. You did the right thing. We can't run the risk of having a Dominion mole right here in Fort Tarsis, and certainly not one married to a Corvus agent.
I wasn't entirely convinced that offering him leniency was the best course. Enemy spies are best dealt with in the most expedient fashion. But in this case, Leyton offered us a direct pipeline back to the Dominion and that was too valuable to pass up. By feeding him the right batch of useful intelligence mixed with disinformation, we can fool his handlers in Stralheim into thinking whatever we want. Nobody ever said spies played fair.
In the meantime, if you're wondering about Nadira, you should put your mind at ease. You did what had to be done. Whether this disrupted their marriage or Leyton's feigned "emotional healing" isn't our concern. It was clearly all an act, anyway. I've reassigned Nadira elsewhere, in a role without access to any classified secrets. I've given her a choice: she can either devote herself to writing supply requisition forms, or she can leave this organization.

Trivia
- This settlement or its surroundings will look different during various seasonal times, which includes the presence or absence of various cataclysmic storms.
- Most information about Sundermark comes from the the Art of Anthem and Anthem Prima Guide.
- A data mined cortex entry about the Ranger Gear Arctic Tomb explains about the cataclysm that froze Stralheim.
- A mention to the cataclysm freezing Stralheim is also made by the Bard when he narrates Magna Stral's accounts in Challenges of the Legionnaires: Might. But the correct option must be chosen foe this information to be revealed.
- There isn’t any direct mention of Sundermark in
Anthem the game. Everything about the Northern Continent is almost always referred to as “the North”. As a matter of fact, the word Sundermark is only mentioned once in all available
Anthem media—in the Anthem Collector's Edition Guide. - For the only known piece of information officially released by Bioware, about Sundermark, please read Paladin’s Lore from the Guide.
